Dear CUSD Families,

All CUSD Schools and the District Office are experiencing difficulties with our phones. We wanted to notify each of you that AT&T, our service provider, is on site and working to resolve the issue. All of our sites and the District Office still have internet capability as well as the ability communicate internally in case of an emergency. All sites also have access to emergency radios and access to School Messenger (our mass broadcasting system). We will keep you apprised of the situation and update you as more information materializes. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

AOE offers students the opportunity to sign up for many different after school classes. You should have received a flyer listing all of the classes available for the first session. Fire Department Appreciation Day at Legoland- September 20

To kick-off Fire Prevention Month in October, Legoland is having a Fire Department Appreciation Day on Saturday, September 20 from 10 am- 5 pm. All tickets are only $35.00!

Please see the attached flyer for email distribution to you staff and students’ families. We hope many of you and them we be able to attend.

Carlsbad Coastal Clean-up Day- September 20

I Love A Clean San Diego is sponsoring a beach clean-up on Saturday, September 20 from 9 am- 12 pm. Participants are asked to register at www.cleanupday.org, click on the "cleanup sites" hyperlink within the paragraph, then select Carlsbad - North Ponto State Beach. Waivers are required for each participant and can be downloaded from the links below.

A Bling Your Bucket art contest for all ages  encourages participants to use their creativity and imagination to learn why it is important to keep our waterways, beaches, and ocean free from marine litter. Winners will receive great prizes and have their picture posted on the Cleanup Day website for one year! Adults are also encouraged to participate as well!

 

How to Participate:

1. Decorate a bucket that you will bring to the cleanup. You must use

Your bucket at the cleanup instead of a plastic bag.

2. Email a picture of yourself and your bucket at the cleanup to iloveacleansd@gmail.com  within one week of the event.

3. Please include name, age, phone number and zip code in the email.

Rules and Judging:

1. Must participate in Coastal Cleanup Day 2014 to enter.

2. Judging will take place after Coastal Cleanup Day.

3. Winners will be notified by email, responding to the email from which the entry was sent.

4. Pictures of winners will be displayed on the CCD website.

PTA Reflections Show 2014

Calling all AOE students to explore their inner artist! This year's PTA Reflections theme is "The World Would Be A Better Place If..." Reflect on the theme and express what it means to you through original work in the fields of photography, music composition, visual arts, dance choreography, film production and/or literature. Students from K through 5th grade can submit as many entries as they like. For entry forms, click here. Guidelines can be found here. Deadline for submissions to the AOE office is 2 p.m., Oct. 9. All entries will be displayed at an art show to be held Oct. 16 at the AOE auditorium. Select entries will move on to be judged with other Carlsbad schools at the district level. Questions?
